“So when are you going to use your degree?”featured

The daunting question of the century for this 20-something. So when am I going to even use my Master’s Degree in Communications? Well, I don’t know… how about, just about every second of my life? Communications is all around us. It is in the written word, the verbal word and even in nonverbal cues.

I work in marketing so I AM Communications. Everyday I apply the many theories that were drilled into my head for about a decade of my life. One thing I have learned about degrees is that they are simply there to teach us discipline and structure. Whether you are a writer or a teacher, how you implement your degree is really up to you. I have people ask me this question as if I am doing life completely wrong. As if communicators only look a certain way or work a certain way. I’m a writer at the core, but I am also a savvy communicator of sorts. So when am I going to use my degree? ALWAYS. The answer is I always am. I’m 20-something and in the middle enjoying every second of it. I am breathing in yoga, self realizations, healing, travel, love, family, relationships, books, articles, films, art and theater. I have way too much to figure out and way too little time. So when are you going to start thinking outside of the box?
